Volunteer with
Sherbert Service Dogs

Puppy Raising

In tandem with our Started Service Dog Program, our volunteer program helps service dogs in training learn obedience foundations, public access manners, and home manners out in the community. Our puppy raisers are the pillars to this program, and allow us to take in more puppies to meet the demand for Started Service Dogs.

Volunteers are given pre-puppy education through video based lessons, text support with our Puppy Trainer, observing group classes, and home visits to set up the home for puppy arrival. See our information cheat sheet to learn about puppy raising! (coming soon)

Volunteer puppy raisers are offered regular training in their designated puppy raising cohorts, and through our group training classes alongside our owner trained service dog teams.

Through the volunteer puppy raising program, all care costs, training costs and anythinng else related to the puppy are covered by Sherbert Service Dogs, all we ask is your time, and commitment to a wiggly bundle of puppy. At this time, all of our Started Service Dogs have owners lined up upon arrival into the program. If you're interested in adopting a career changed service dog, inquire with other local service dog organizations, or look around your local SPCA and rescue branches for adoptable pets.
