Service Dogs We Train
At Sherbert Service Dogs, we specialize in various types of service dogs, each tailored to meet specific needs. Our service dogs include autism service dogs for kids, teens and adults, mobility assistance dogs to aid individuals with physical disabilities, psychiatric service dogs that provide support for civilian PTSD, schizophrenia and other mental health conditions. We also train medical alert and response dogs for those with health conditions such as diabetes or seizures. (please note, alerts cannot be guaranteed, but responses can. Mobility Service Dogs
Mobility support from a service dog includes skills such as: retrieving items and picking them up, pushing buttons to open doors, pulling off clothing, opening drawers, doors and cupboards, counter-balance support, forward momentum pull, wheelchair pull, and more!

We do not train brace work, this is a referred out skill

PTSD Service Dogs
PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) support from a dog includes skills such as: anxiety alerts, nightmare interruption, finding a safe person, space creation in public, behaviour interruption, and deep pressure therapy.

These dogs are placed for those with civilian PTSD and combatitive PTSD

Autism + ADHD Service Dogs
Autism annd ADHD service dogs provide vital support to their handlers with skills such as:
Deep pressure therapy, tactile stimulation, grounding, behaviour interruption, alerting to a meltdown, space creation, items and seating, grabbing items, keeping their handler on track, leading parents/safe person to the handler if they wander off, and medication retrieval.

We place autism + ADHD service dogs with children over age 7, teens, young adults and adults. We do not train anchoring, and will refer out for this skill.

Hearing Alert Dogs
Hearing loss is a spectrum that is debilitating to individuals, dogs can be trained to do skills such as:
Doorbell ringing, door knocking, fire alarm, phone-calls, alarms, name being called, sirens, honking, and retrieving dropped items that weren't heard.

Psychiatric Service Dogs
Psychiatric service dogs can be trained for a variety of mental health disorders such as generalized anxiety (GAD), schizophrenia, depression, bipolar, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) with skills such as:
Alerting to oncoming anxiety, clearing rooms/room checks, deep pressure therapy, medication reminders, waking up handler, hallucination discernment, finding a safe person/family member, and more!

Medical Alert + Response Service Dogs
For individuals struggling with Diabetes, and Seizures, a dog can be trained to perform skills such as:
Scent-based alerts (blood sugar, or seizure), retrieving medication, rescue supplies, or a safe person, elevating legs, applying specific point pressure, and finding/leading to an exit, bench or bathroom.

We do not guarantee alerts and their accuracy, but will guarantee response work. Please reach out for details if curious about this program
Dogs we will not train:
Guide dogs for the blind or visually impaired, and allergy alerts for life threatening anaphylaxis
